What matters most - A fast car, or a fast driver?

It is a question that has been long contested in competitive motor racing. Take Formula 1 for instance - people have been debating what would happen if you put some of the drivers in the slowest cars in one of the front running cars, and vice versa, to which comes out on top.

But what about road cars? Thanks to the team at Car Throttle, we now have an idea of which aspect matters the most. Both of the cars used in the experiment are supplied by Hyundai; there is the high-performance i20 N as well as the relatively easy-going i20 N Line. The former has over 200hp while the latter has a 40% power deficit, resulting in a 0-60 time of 10.1 seconds, compared to the N's 6.2 seconds.

Piloting the i20 N Line is Alex Kersten, while Car Throttle's resident non-car guy takes the wheel of the i20 N. Alex did set a benchmark time with the i20 N to realise the performance variant's full potential before handing the keys over to Ethan. Afterwards, Alex sets some times in the N Line.

In conclusion, Ethan in the i20 N is victorious compared to Alex in the i20 N Line, setting a fastest lap of 52.74 seconds compared to 54.03 (though still some way of Alex's 49-second benchmark in the i20 N).
