Lamborghini Drag Race Has Surprising Results!

If you know your supercars, you would know that the Lamborghini Aventador is currently the firm's flagship hypercar, while the Huracan is positioned as an entry-level, more accessible supercar. However, don't let that fool you into thinking the Huracan should be overlooked if you want the fastest Lambo on the market right now.

A drag race video released by Carwow pits the Huracan Performante against the Lamborghini Aventador SV. These are both the flagship, track day oriented models of their respective counterparts and are both capable of sub-3 second 0-60 times. With a 110 horsepower advantage, the Aventador should dominate the quarter-mile run, right? It turns out there is far more to the story than peak performance.

I won't spoil the results, but it is worth bearing in mind other crucial factors which influenced the outcome. First of all, there is the gearbox; the Huracan uses a Dual Clutch Transmission, while the Aventador uses an old-fashioned Single Clutch setup. While the Single Clutch gearbox provides more character during upshifts, the loss of power while it switches cogs does the Aventador no favours against the Hurcan which delivers relatively seamless performance throughout the races. Also, when you factor in the 200kg weight advantage the Huracan has, the baby Lambo's performance starts to become more understandable. Check out the video below to see how the two cars compare in a series of challenges!
