Forza Horizon 4 vs Project Gotham Racing 4: Capturing Real Life Landmarks

If you are familiar with the Horizon series, you will know that interpretations of real life locations are not implemented with 1:1 scaling in mind. locations than are over a thousand miles away can be reached within a few minutes, as is the case with the Australian Map in Forza Horizon 3. However, When it comes to capturing landmarks which signify the location of the festival, the Horizon series is second to none, and the comparison video below shows why:

Using landmarks such as the Scott Monument, Snowshill Cottage and Edinburgh Castle, Playground Games have captured the essence of Northern territories in the UK. So much so that if you were you show side by side images without labels, people would be hard pressed to figure out which footage represents real life!

While we are on the subject of comparing real life images to in game footage, let's take a look back at how the Horizon series' arcade racing predecessor fared with comparison shots. Bear in mind this is Project Gotham Racing 4, a game which is over 10 years old...

Unlike Forza Horizon, Project Gotham Racing 4 did its best to remain true to real life scaling, although that was an easier task given how the game with centred around closed circuit racing. With that said, If Project Gotham Racing 4 was backwards compatible and given an enhancement patch, it could potentially capture real life locations as well as Forza Horizon 4 does!
